We are in a busy season of the year, and often the last ones that get to step away are the ones who need it the most. The other day I realized that my husband was giving me permission to do exactly that when he told me to take some me time. As he is healing from a recent surgery, it has not been something that I felt I had the liberty to exercise, but with his permission, I saw wisdom in what he was saying.
When we are pouring out, we need to find the time to be refreshed ourselves. If we do this for us it will be better for everyone around us. Just a long way of saying that even the most gregarious person needs time to listen and recharge, and when we take this time it will prove to be more than beneficial. It can simply be a walk in the fresh air, a bookstore that you have wanted to explore, or whatever interests you.
The important message I heard from my husband was that he values what I do for him, and he was giving me something of value, too. He gave me time and told me to spend it in whatever way would make me happy.
Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
