Marketplace Ministry

I have been called to a place where women have functioned for thousands of years. It is a place that is not foreign, but a natural environment for women to meet other women, operate businesses, learn, teach, laugh, cry and experience each other. Without this outlet, women would be isolated and hindered. They would be robbed of the wisdom, and guidance, of other women that is so vital to their personal identity.

Just as a mother teaches a daughter, so do women benefit from relationships that foster a positive image, something that is critical to a woman's emotional and physical health. It is in this setting where conversation will bind women together, creating bonds not easily broken. This setting is the marketplace, and we as women know it very well.

When women have meaningful conversations they grow in compassion, understanding, tolerance, and love for one another that is not hindered by race, economic differences, age, or even religion. They are able to rise above circumstances, maintaining an openness that builds a beautiful exchange, one that ultimately leads to a true sense of unity among sisters.

Here lies my vision. That this blog would be a catalyst for creating a visual presence in the marketplace where women will come together to do what is so needed. Simply to have conversation with other women.

What I have done personally in the marketplace, so have many of you; when you refused to be blind and closed off to the woman looking back at you across the aisle in the grocery store, at the check out, in the fast food line, or sitting in your favorite coffee shop. Instead, you chose to engage! Even if your engagement was nothing more than a few words or a smile, it was enough. What you did was recognize the need that we each have to be seen, and even if you did not receive a kind word in return, or that warm smile, you still went the additional distance to reach out, and let her see you!

I believe it is critical that we recognize how to best meet the needs of women, who are seeking to know, and understand their roles more clearly. Women are all too often swept along in life, only to find that they have missed the mark badly, suffering disappointment and regret.

I desire to create an environment that is trusted and free from limitations, unrealistic expectations, and judgment. Where each individual matters, and where what they share is received with love and respect.

I admit that my expectations are high. Truthfully, I expect that the blog will only be the platform to get us where I want us to go. My real hope is that we will meet in towns, and cities across our nation, strangers who will not be strangers for long, but women who will grow in purpose driven friendships.

I want "Believing Women in Conversation" to be an avenue where women can gain confidence, and courage, to talk and walk out their calling. I want women to start visualizing adventures, adventures that are calling out their name, but as with all things, we need a place to start.

So, we start simple. We start with conversation!
