What was the last thing God asked you to do?

What I like about this question is that it really demands that we go further than just give a response. It really presses us with what is really a two part question. Have we actually heard what has been asked of us and out of obedience have we followed through and done it? I believe that this question will likely always have a part A and part B for me.

I often think how we ask our children to do something before we give them another assignment. Remember your children running to you and saying that they wanted a job? You would send them off thinking that it would take them some time to accomplish what you had asked of them, only to look up and see them running back. I see this with my grandchildren as well, but as they have grown I have also seen a maturity in the way they approach jobs. It takes them longer and there is an element of seriousness that is connected to what they are doing. They are now exercising a spirit of excellence because they know from past experience that this is what we are looking to see.

The lesson here is for us all. Before we can confidently move forward it really requires us to acknowledge the last thing that God asked us to do. In other words, we want to be clear that we are on the right page. There are no steps too small or unimportant that can be passed over. These days all work together for our good.

So, do you need to go back and recall what the last thing was that God asked you to do? What we may discover is that it was the last time we knew we heard His voice clearly. He is waiting for our obedience action before shining His light on the next step.

Psalm 143:8 CSB Let me experience your faithful love in the morning, for I trust in you. Reveal to me the way I should go because I appeal to you.

Are you doing the next thing?

Have you ever felt that God has stopped moving on your behalf?
