Last night I was having a conversation, and the individual I was speaking to asked a straightforward question, “How do you press into God?” A great question, and one where everyone will have a different answer, as it is personal and perspective.
When I was asked how do you press into God, I took it as meaning how do I press into God. I didn’t want to give a generic answer, but one that was relative to me. The person asking would make it personal for them, but my answer was not meant to imply that there was only one way to press into God. What immediately came to mind was a question that I would ask myself, before I could begin to answer with confidence. The question was how much do I value my relationship with God?
I press into God the same way I do any relationship that has meaning in my life. I make time to be silent, to listen, to be in a place of agreement with God’s Word, and to wait. By making myself available to God I am declaring the value I place on the relationship, and in seeing that relationship go deeper. From that deeper place I expect to get wisdom, understanding, and knowledge that is worthwhile to life here on earth that will benefit more that just me!
How I press into God is personally important, but why is even more significant. I press into God because when I do, I feel His intense love for me, and I know that when I pursue Him He will be found. He will not keep Himself hidden from those that are seeking His face.
