When I wrote this question today it made me chuckle because this happens to be something that is very dear to my heart. When I am with my sisters it becomes the question that we ask before we proceed. For us, it is simply wanting to know the direction that we are going before we actually make the commitment. We are women, after all, and plans in place get us to where we are supposed to be going.
As I was sitting the other day looking at the text for a Bible study, it was clear that a plan is always important, for without an established framework in place pointing to the point, it is easy to miss the point totally! When we are putting time and effort to get the most from what we are studying, even missing the mark slightly, is just too much for me.
The more I talk to women the more I realize that everyone has a plan, even if it is a plan that has been tweaked numerous times, it is still a plan. When our plans are in place we seem to just have more personal peace, and that peace does transfer to the people around us. Everyone wants to know that someone is seeing the bigger picture, even if they momentarily lose sight of it.
Have you heard a person say that they have a plan, but that at the moment it is fluid? Each time I hear this I imagine a plan that it is just floating around somewhere looking for a place to dock. It just reminds me of a boat without an anchor, without solid ground in sight, or without a working compass. I suppose it depends on the way you look at it.
For me it seems like the inability to make a decision, to another it is more about keeping your options open and see where the tide takes you. Actually, neither is wrong, just different perspectives based on our wants, our needs, our desires, and our willingness to either have a working plan in place, or not. We get to choose.
Proverbs 15:22 CSB Plans fail when there is no counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.
Proverbs 20:18 CSB Finalize plans with counsel, and wage war with sound guidance.
