Are you enjoying simple pleasures?

As I was considering the question for today, I pictured myself sitting on my sofa watching the birds at the feeder. Many times it reminds me of why we often see aquariums in medical offices. Sometimes people experience an anxiousness being in a doctor’s office, and watching the simple motion of fish swimming seems to calm them down.

To sit at my window and enjoy the simplicity of seeing the birds flying in to eat and then flying away is comforting. I realize how predictable they are and how little seems to distract from their desire to eat, and eat some more. They have no worries or concerns and are just content to fly to and fro, and yet the word of God tells us that not a single sparrow falls to the ground that our Father in heaven does not see, and that gives me comfort as well. There are many profound Scriptures in God’s word that have obvious significance, but to me this word is not to be pushed aside.

It tells me that our Father is concerned about the birds of the air, that He is aware of all their activity, and that He knows that I get simple pleasure in watching them through my window. My Father sees me and knows what makes me happy, and today it is watching His birds come to my feeder.

Matthew 10:29-31 CSB Aren’t two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s consent. But even the hairs of your head have all been counted. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Is God good all the time?

Will deeper revelation of the words we speak change how we view them?
