I might say it this way. Are we going to the Holy Spirit with our questions first, or is He our second choice? In an age when we can google just about any topic, and get an answer within seconds, it is probable that many times we ask another, a person instead of the Third Person of the Trinity. In fact, I wonder if we think it will be quicker, and don’t even think of asking the Holy Spirit. We may even assume that small questions are just too small to go to God with, and yet the Bible tells us otherwise.
I have shared before that one of my go to Scriptures is Jeremiah 33:3 which says, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and incomprehensible things you do not know.” What I like about this word is that it tells us to call upon God. We are not being told to hold back, to only come for specific answers that we need, or questions that we judge as being worthy to ask God. This Scripture does not limit our inquires, but says we are to call on God and we will be answered.
Jeremiah was a prophet, called by God, to deliver messages to the people. We have the Holy Spirit that lives within us, our direct link to God, and He is at hand to answer ever the smallest of questions. Nothing is insignificant to the Holy Spirit. If we are asking then He is willing to answer. We just need to ask Him.
In Scripture Jesus told us that the Father’s desire is to give His children good things. The heart of the Father is to give to us what is most precious to Him, so first He gave us Jesus, and then He gave us His own Spirit.
Matthew 7:11 CSB “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him.”
