As I was thinking of a friend recently, who I feel somewhat separated from, I found myself in conversation with the Holy Spirit. Yesterday, my blog was about taking our questions to God’s Spirit, so it was a natural continuation of that process, and it truly is a process. The more we seek the Spirit of God for answers, the more we instinctually go down that path, and it becomes what we do first, not just an after thought.
We have all been in a season of our lives when God is calling us to step up and speak out. It may be to many, or to one individual, but either way, it often takes courage to go where you are not super comfortable going. Honestly, it may simply be the comfort that you felt in the past is just not there in this present season. In fact, it may be a totally different experience for you, an experience where you never imagined that you would find yourself, but I believe that we can all relate to this on some level or another.
In my case, as I sought the Lord regarding my friend it became very clear that it was not a lack of courage, on my part, but of God’s timing. Occasionally, there will be highs and lows to our relationships with very close friends, and although we may not like it, there is comfort that God gives us in the midst of this season when we know that He is involved.
What has become obvious to me is that God has activated a restraint in my heart, and I don’t have the liberty to inquire as to the changes that I see in my friend. I am being lead to hold back from taking any action that would cause this person to feel that they have to explain themselves to me. As difficult as I would expect this to be, keeping my emotions in check, it is where I have the most peace. I know that whatever is going on, whatever God is doing, I will wait on Him. I love my friend.
