As I began to write this post I had another question immediately pop into my mind. Would you rather sit and have conversation with a mountain mover or a grave digger? I honestly can’t imagine anyone choosing a grave digger, and yet, that is exactly the choice we have made when we allow words of the grave to flow over us. Interesting how that old expression comes to mind of having one foot in the grave. It can be used by an individual speaking of their own situation, someone else stating what they believe is the obvious, or any number of people who quickly pull on the negative, rather than the positive, or again, the half empty glass vrs that which is half filled.
In the states we are quickly approaching what many believe will be a controversial election. Four years ago it was controversial, and it put a wedge between families, long time friends, and many that found themselves on opposite sides. In fact, many of those relationships have remained broken to this day.
I bring up the election because it is something that most people have strong opinions about, and they are not timid about making their choice known. I include myself in this as well, for I definitely can not waver in regard to life, the sanctity of life at conception, and how that unborn life must be protected. Therefore, just like four years ago, this election can only satisfy me one way.
Is there a mountain that you want to move into the sea? For me it is Roe v. Wade, a mountain that has been built from the graves of 60 million babies. A mountain that we shall see thrown into the sea, and so my conversation must always be one of a mountain mover, not a grave digger. Instead of speaking about it as a choice that women have, let’s talk about it from the unborn babies perspective. This child would never chose the grave. That is a choice that someone else makes for them. The mountain of abortion has stained the landscape of America and it must be thrown into the sea.
As women of faith we must be engaged in the things of this world that we know do not please God. We can’t avoid discussing the hard things. When we are pulled into conversations that speak of the grave, when they should be all about life, then we need to defend our position as one that aligns with God. We can’t stay neutral. The Supreme Court confirmation hearings now centered on Amy Coney Barrett are critical to this mountain of abortion being cast into the sea, and it is something that all believers should be watching closely.
As women who are called by His name, we must speak as mountain movers, and not as women who are in agreement with the grave. In all tenderness, in all love, but with godly authority, we must speak without judgement. The things that matter to God must always matter to us. The mountain of abortive babies in the graves matter to God.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
