I believe that most women in the states are preparing one way or another for Thanksgiving. Even if you are not hosting this year, or perhaps you are not even making a dish to share in another household, the chances are you have given some thought to what Thanksgiving means to you.
Everyone is impacted by Thanksgiving, and Christmas. For some it has been a time of sorrow, if they have experienced lost, disappointment, or regret. Regardless, it needs to be a time when each one of us personally recognizes the signifiance of the holidays that we celebrate as a nation.
This year I am so aware of the need to hold on tightly to what these holidays truly mean. When many states are calling a ban to the gathering of families, when churches are being targeted as virus spreaders, and are being forced to remain closed, if ever there was a time to take stock it is now! If families are being told that they can’t break bread together, if families are being told that they can’t sing, if families are being told that neighbors will report them if they gather, then clearly we have a serious problem.
My family lives in the northeast section of our country. It is a large state that casts a heavy shadow on the lives of all who live there. What has become clear is that individual rights are being taken away under the guise of keeping people safe. The fear tactic is a powerful weapon used to keep people from enacting their constitutional rights.
So, this year as we celebrate, let us pray for truth. That our eyes will be open to all that is being done to deceive us, and that the veil of deception will be pulled back for all to see. Our prayers are so important.
We must stand in truth, and in confidence, knowing that as we stand God will move. With thankful hearts, we are thankful people who understand the days in which we live. We must never forget that God is victorious in all situations, and at all times. Hallelujah!
Philippians 4:6-7 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father though Him.
Psalm 107:8-9 Let them give thanks to the LORD for His unfailing love and His wonderful deeds for mankind, for He satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.
2 Corinthians 4:15 All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.
