Are we giving the right impression?

This morning, as I was driving down the interstate, I saw a truck with the logo ‘Glory Bound’ on its side doors. The rest of the truck was covered with Scripture. It was a joyful sight. What immediately struck me was how this utility truck bore witness to God’s Word on all sides, and I wondered if the individual driving was in agreement with what was written, and from that thought came this question.

How many times have we seen a person wearing the cross of Christ, only to hear words spoken from their mouth that does not bear witness to that cross? We all know the importance of first impressions, even an impression that does not speak of the heart of the individual, but one that has been wrongly judged, will need some effort to correct.

So, what is the right impression? Do we desire to please, making compromises along the way, or do we remain steadfast at all costs, even if that means running over someone standing in our way?

Let me inject something that I often say, but it is worth saying again for the sake of new readers. Every question I propose to you, I have asked myself first. After all, it has to begin with me before it can make sense to anyone else. This blog is not a personal platform to preach, but as the name implies, it is about believing women in conversation.

Therefore, as I sit with women of faith I see us having much to say regarding this subject. It becomes a personal question, an important question, and one that will birth truthful conversations among women who understand that the right impression is pivotal to kingdom work.

We must be the women that we appear to be, in word, in deed, and we must do this in agreement with God’s Word. Ours must be an intentional walk of faith, one that is worth every ounce of effort we put into being true representatives of the God we serve. If we do this, we will be women who leave a lingering impression long after we have gone, an impression of godliness, something that is desperately needed in these days. Furthermore, when we have allowed them to see Jesus in us, then we have accomplished much for the advancement of God’s kingdom here on earth.

Titus 2:3-5 Likewise with female elders, lead them into lives free from gossip and drunkenness and to be teachers of beautiful things. This will enable them to teach the younger women to love their husbands, to love their children, and to be self-controlled and pure, taking care of their household and being devoted to their husbands. By doing these things the word of God will not be discredited.
