We are not called to be people who speak idle words, words that do not edify God, or others. We certainly are not called to be those that curse others, or open doors to others cursing us by the words that we speak. We are called to speak out of God’s truth, out of His Word, and for His purposes. When we do this we will see things begin to take shape around us, and we will see an alignment begin to materialize that will speak of maturity. This maturity is meant to propel us into that next phase that God has fashioned for us..
Choosing to do what is right is a sign of maturity. When we choose to follow God, putting His statures before that of man, then we are walking in that maturity. It is a maturity that will continue as we continue to seek to know and understand the deeper things of God. It is when we prefer meat, something that we can wrestle with, that our maturity will begin to show itself. The milk that at one time satisfied will no longer satiate us. This is a good and necessary step to spiritual maturity.
Spiritual maturity is what every Christian should desire. When others stop to listen to us speak, then they are recognizing wisdom, and discernment that comes with maturity. Certainly, we know that anything that is worth attaining to will cost us. It will cost us in our time, our focus, and our choices. Will it be worth it? Absolutely! You and I will never desire to return to our old ways of thinking, behavior, or time wasters when we have tasted and seen the good that God has for us.
1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I used to speak like a child, think like a child, reason like a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things.
Psalm 119:1-2 How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the Lord’s instruction! Happy are those who keep His decrees and seek Him with all their heart. They do nothing wrong; whey walk in His ways.
