Have we allowed our authority to go dormant?

I will get right to the point with this question. The other day while I was in conversation, with someone who I highly respect, she told me that there was a time when she saw me lay aside my authority. I was taken back to the time that she was referencing, and I agreed with her completely. It didn’t take me long to see why I had allowed it to happen. I had shifted my focus in an attempt to survive a difficult season, and allowed the circumstances of that time to rule over me, instead of using my authority to keep it in check.

The Scriptures tell us that the Father has given to us all that He has given to Jesus. It is so good. Almost too good to fully comprehend. But, the truth is the same nonetheless. We have been given the same authority that Jesus has been given by the Father, and what has been given to us is irrevocable. The Father will not take our authority away, but we can walk away from that authority, lay it down, or give it away. We get to choose.

The Bible tells us that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. That means that we are in the very throne room of God. We are in Christ, Christ is seated at the Father’s right hand, so we are too! I take God’s Word literally, so I am seated next to the Father. That speaks of sonship, inheritance, and authority. The right hand of the Father is all about justice and righteousness, and you can’t walk in either of those without authority.

To walk out our days, in the fruitfulness of our salvation, is to use our kingdom authority just as Jesus did!

Ephesians 2:6 Amplified Bible And He raised us up together with Him (when we believed), and seated us with Him in the heavenly places, (because we are) in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:9 Amplified Bible For this reason also (because He obeyed and so completely humbled Himself), God has highly exalted Him and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name.
