Are you carrying a sword with a sharp edge?

I know that most of us would assume that all swords have a sharp edge, but I know for a fact that all do not. Many years ago the Holy Spirit told me that one of our son-in-laws was a samurai in the spirit. It was an amazing revelation, and it answered specific questions that I had, so it was so cool that Holy Spirit told me!

At about the same time that Holy Spirit spoke about Steve, Jack was planning a trip to Tokyo for business. What an opportunity to bring back a sword, which he did. It was sent to our home in the states, and presented to our samurai!

It is a beautiful sword, a real treasure, but it is not as sharp as I assumed it would be. To get that edge to the point of being able to cut easily, it would require some work.

How often have we put on the armor of God, specially the sword of the Spirit, God’s Word, and yet we have failed to take it a step further? We pray the armor, but then we don’t mediate on God’s Word. We neglect to follow through with the real work that will give us the advantage, knowing and using God’s Word to literally fight our battles. It is like using a sword without a sharp edge. Certainly even a dull sword can be used as a club, but it will never be as effective as using it in its full purpose.

It is only when we are established in God’s Word, that we will use our weapon of warfare to its full advantage. The sword of the Spirit is sharper than any two edged sword.

Hebrews 4:12-13 For we have the living Word of God, which is full of energy, like a two—mouthed sword. It will even penetrate to the very core of our being where soul and spirit, bone and marrow meet! It interprets and reveals the true thoughts and secret motives of our hearts. There is not one person who can hide their thoughts from God, for nothing that we do remains a secret, and nothing created is concealed, but everything is exposed and defenseless before his eyes, to whom we must render an account.
