This is a question that our pastor asked us recently, and I loved it! This question is clear cut and without pretense. It asks us a very targeted question, and it requires us to give back a very targeted answer. Our pastor went on to say that if we are not functioning in our full capacity, then it is because we are lacking understanding of some crtical pieces of knowledge.
Most of us can easily repeat the Scripture in Hosea 4:6 that says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (of My law, where I reveal My will). We usually use perish in place of destroyed, but you get the idea. The word destroyed, translated, means to be cut off or to perish. Plain words that carry a powerful message.
We will not be functioning in the full capacity, of our intended purpose, if we lack knowledge about what our purpose is. Our purpose is tied to our identity, and our identity is in Christ. When we seek to know and understand Christ, we come to the fullness of who we are, and what we were created to be.
So, when we want to know our intended purpose we need only look to Jesus. When we do, we see ourselves as the Father always intended us to be seen, in oneness with Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Colossians 1:13 For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself form the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption (because of His sacrifice, resulting in) the forgiveness of our sins (and the cancellation of sins’ penalty).
