Are you familiar with how a bungee cord works?

I have not done a jump that would be even close to using a cord that would whip me back, but I certainly can appreciate how it works. Before I would ever even attempt such a daring exercise, I would want to know where the cord is securely being held. Truthfully, that would be the critical answer I would need for assurance that I would survive. When I was thinking of today’s question, and what has been going on in my life recently, I think that it is a perfect analogy.

Circumstances can initially take us in a direction which can feel like a free fall, but what becomes evident very quickly is where we are going to end up. Will we continue to feel vulnerable and frightened by what is happening to us, or will we find that our free fall has actually taken us to a new place? A place that is trust dominated and with a faith that is tied securely to God, not to circumstances. How we react is really the perfect indicator of not only our resiliency, but the condition of our relationship with our Anchor.

This past week my husband and I have dealt with some unexpected health concerns. What became very clear from the onset was that we were not going to be governed by emotion, but get our perspective from the clear, concise, Word of God. Believe me when I say that I am fully human, not a robot when it comes to my feelings for my husband, but I took my comfort from my relationship with God, and that reflected in my relationship with my man.

We know that God has worked all things for our good and His glory, and it brings remarkable peace to know that we bounce back right into His arms.

Isaiah 40:29-31 CSB He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless. Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the Lord will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles, they shall run and not become weary, they shall walk and not faint.
