I have often spoken of bringing God’s kingdom into the marketplace with us each time we step out of our homes as a reminder of our purpose. It is very clear that God has given this assignment to His people dating back 2000 years ago.
Consequently, this assignment is far from new. It is one that believers have been called to since Jesus introduced the Great Commission. From that time, and leading up to the present, we have been told to go into all the world spreading the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Philip Bethancourt states with simplicity the connection between Jesus and the kingdom of God when he says, “Jesus inaugurated the kingdom, Jesus is the kingdom, Jesus purposes the kingdom, Jesus declares the kingdom, Jesus demonstrates the kingdom, Jesus deploys the kingdom, Jesus transforms the kingdom, Jesus purchases the kingdom, Jesus concludes the kingdom, and lastly Jesus returns the kingdom.
More Christians are becoming aware of the need to be in the marketplace, not for what they need, but for what others are desperate to understand and experience. We are not merely going about our own personal business but we are engaged in the Father’s work as He reaches out to the unsaved. The marketplace and the kingdom of God are synonymous with doing the work of God. It is not what we have been called to do now. It is what we have always been called to do as believers in the span of our earthly lifetime.
The kingdom of God did not just appear and now we suddenly are aware of what we should be doing. Jesus introduced and spoke of the Father’s kingdom clearly and often.
Matthew 6 :9-10 CSB “Therefore, you should pray like this: Our Father in heaven, your name is honored as holy. Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
