Do you know someone who is sick?

It probably won’t take you long to think of at least one individual whom you know is sick. As I thought of this question I certainly had a particular person in mind.

We are all surrounded by people who are either professing that they themselves are sick or they know someone who is. Sometimes we even hear people who are not actually sick speak as if one day soon they may be. It is like we have become a culture that is on the brink of sickness. The sickness may be physical, may be in our soul, or in our spirit.

We all know that we have power in the words that we speak and that those words can create or tear down. If we are continually speaking that we are ill there is a good chance that we will be exactly that, but on the other hand when we speak health, wholeness, and abundance then we shall see it pouring forth from all aspects of our life.

For the born again believer we no longer live out of a human spirit. When we came into agreement with the saving grace of Jesus the Holy Spirit took up residence in our human spirit, so now an exchange has happened. Our human spirit man is now occupied by the Holy Spirit and there is no sickness in God’s Spirit. That part of our being is whole, healthy, restored, redeemed, and alive forever. This really is a hallelujah moment for us all!

As I am further thinking this post through to completion I am reminded of how many times we are heart sick and how that can lead to a physical sickness. When are hearts are feeling pain it is often enough to make us sick in our bodies. Often the two require healing in unison in order to get us back to a healthy state. This is where the Holy Spirit comes in for He is a deep healer. Holy Spirit takes what has been broken and makes it new again, even to the point that the brokenness is no longer visible. No scars, no life support, just His pure joy.

For someone who is experiencing a sickness that has gripped them to the point that they imagine their demise is near, we have good news. God is willing and able to take them from that place of despair to a place of peace. No one else is capable of doing what He can do, doing it so well, and with everlasting results. Now that is a sentence that is worth remembering!

Matthew 9:20-22 CSB Just then, a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years approached from behind and touched the end of His robe, for she said to herself, “If I can touch His robe, I’ll be made well.” Jesus turned and saw her, “Have courage, daughter,” He said. “Your faith has saved you.” And the woman was made well from that moment.
