The apostle Peter said in 1 Peter 3:14-15 “Do not fear what they fear, or be intimidated, but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, ready at any time to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.”
This Scripture is always applicable in our lives, as there is much to give account for every day. In other words, the hope that we as believers have extends into each area of our lives, and is a witness to others as to why we live, walk, and speak the way that we do. We have hope that is grounded in Christ, and that grounding allows us to function far differently than the world.
The world does not recognize hope in Christ as being essential, or Jesus as someone every person should pursue. The world operates on a different premise. The world's premise is one of self preservation, and self fulfillment. So, when someone outside of the knowledge of Christ is asked how they do what they do, how they navigate uncertainty, or how they overcome the troubles in this life, their answer is simple. Their response points to success, intelligence, experience, and education. They rely on their own abilities to make all the necessary decisions that will give them what they need, and desire in life.
Yet, we know that this mind set will only take an individual so far. There will come a day when the resources that have given them comfort, in the past will have dried up, and they will be left with an emptiness that they can not fill. When that day comes for them, we the people who know truth, need to be ready to speak out, but we can’t wait until that day.
Every believer is a witness to Christ and we must live our lives out in transparency, so that our hope in Christ is not hidden, but clearly visible for all to see. This is a must for today and everyday!
Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
