These days are driving us into unknown seas, if you will. I have not been in this place ever in my lifetime, and I believe it is true for most of you. Surely there have been many things that have happened behind the scenes throughout history. Fortunately, things are not hidden from us anymore. When we see so much playing out right before our eyes it can be very unsettling, and it may cause many to lose their balance.
When our children were young, and we taught them to sail, the objective was to get them comfortable moving around the deck during rough seas. Of course, our desire was to give them ample time to develop their legs, but there were occasions when both my husband and I were busy with lines, sails, etc, and our oldest daughter had to go to the foredeck to quickly free a line. She learned what was at stake when she was told to go forward, and there was no hesitation. Her sea legs kept her steady, even while we experienced turbulent conditions.
In my opinion, the rough seas that we have experienced of late are bound to get more difficult. Why? Simply because evil does not go away peacefully, or without putting up a fight. Evil will not stand, God is bigger, but there is a process.
The process to getting our sea legs beneath us requires standing, praying, and holding the line. We must stand with God and His Word. God’s Ecclesia is capable of great endurance, we must rest in God’s truth, and prove ourselves to be overcomers.
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Remember to stay alert and hold firmly to all that you believe. Be mighty and full of courage. Let love and kindness be the motivation behind all that you do.
Psalm 56:3-4 But in the day that I’am afraid, I lay all my fears before you and trust in you with all my heart. What harm could a man bring to me? With God on my side I will not be afraid of what comes. The roaring praises of God fill my heart, and I will always triumph as I trust His promises.
